Splurge or Save
Sunday, February 27, 2011
When shopping it is good to be aware of what you would like to splurge on and what you would like to save on in advance so you can plan how much you will spend that day.
Items to splurge on:
- tailored/designer jeans (if you are an avid jean wearer)
- black or nude heels
- tailored blazer or jacket
- cashmere sweaters
- silk blouses
- perfect little black dress or cocktail dress (buy one that you can wear in different ways to get more wear)
- sunglasses (unless you lose glasses...you know who you are!)
- makeup (it lasts long and looks nicer)
- designer handbag (that won't go out of style)
Items to save on:
- everyday jeans and pants (they are only $10 at Forever21)
- boyfriend or slouchy tees
- scarves
- flats, boots, fun heels, sandals
- sunglasses (doesn't hurt to have a pair for all occastions)
- jewlery
- headbands and bows
- sundresses
- blouses (if it looks nice to you, it probably looks nice to everyone else)
- anything that seems very trendy
- fun purses
- cardigans
The best way to decide on what to splurge or save on is by calculating your Cost Per Wear: if you buy a pair of $100 black heels and you wear them just 10 times, they cost you $10 per wear. However if you buy a $300 cocktail dress and you only wear it twice, you do the math and decide!
