So Bronze Spray Tan

Sunday, February 28, 2010

I don't know about you but I'm getting really sick of winter. I feel white, pasty....and just plan washed out. I came across this totally amazing spray tan by So Bronze. I have tried at home spray tans in the past and while the color of one in particular was nice it was SO messy. I mean stain your ceiling and wall's kind of messy. This other unnamed spray tan (*cough* it has the word love in it) would spray out streaky and I'd have to use my hands to even it out. So Bronze is seriously SO easy especially for the face and neck. It takes me 20 seconds of going in a back and forth motion and volia...healthy, glowy, bronzed skin! The color that comes out looks like a natural color tan and not at all orange. This is really a no fuss no muss tanner. It's quick and easy and you don't have to use your hands!
When you first spray it you will see a slight color but the color will deepen in 4-6 hours. I recommend spraying it on at night and taking a shower in the morning. When you wake up you will have a nice warm looking tan. This tanner dries in 2-3 minutes... which is not bad in my opinion. This spray tan does have a scent but it's not one of those gross tanning scents. It smells pretty nice. I would have to say it lasts 5-7 days on the body but I like to refresh my face and neck every 3-4 days.
Like with ANY self tanner exfoliating is a must! If you don't exfoliate your arms or body then you will have dry patchy tanned skin. That's what happened to me the first time on my arms. That was my fault though because I didn't get off my dead/dry skin.
(SO BRONZE Skin-healthy ingredients include aloe vera, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E.)

After getting bronzed up.... here with my little baby boy

Over all I really recommend this spray tan. It's really easy, quick and the color you get is really nice. It's not messy... I don't want to spend an extra 5 cleaning after I tanned. I didn't even have to wash my hands after using that... now that says something!!

2 minutes after spraying it on my skin
4 hours after I sprayed it on my skin
Tan deepened to it's fullest over night
Please note: that I sprayed it like this for review purposes only to show you the contrast between super pale skin and the deep beautiful color you can get from it. I'm glad I did this to show you but now I'm stuck with a funky looking arm. Ha ha. I did it all for you! :)

I bought this from the the source skincare (great, great store by the way! Amazing costumer service!) If you are interested they have a coupon running now until March 13th for 20% off. Use the code sardunSOBRONZE. It has to be typed as shown or it won't work. Also, this item ships for free if you live in the US. Now, that's REALLY unusual theses days and really nice to find. They also ship international.

Happy tanning! :)

I bought this product, I was not paid or asked to review this product. These are my honest feelings and thoughts. I am not affiliated with this company. I truly like the product.

Get $10 from Ruelala

Saturday, February 27, 2010

Ruelala.com has designer boutiques at low prices.  Today's boutiques (Feb 27) include Juicy Couture, Catherine Malandrino, Whiting and Davis, Tarte cosmetics, Douglas Kirkland, The Culinary Institute of America cookware, and St. Supery Vineyards and Winery.

Just for making a free account on the site you get $10 in your account.  For each friend you refer that makes their first purchase you get another $10 in your account.  They have great items like Juicy Couture hoodies and pants for $49 ($39 with your account credit).  The Tarte cosmetics has their "Tarte Eyequatics waterproof set" for $15 (only $5 with your account credit).

Some of the Tarte Cosmetics would have even been free with the account credit except they're sold out.  Which brings me to another point.  These boutiques usually only last a day or two. Items sell out quickly.  I've been saving my account credit for a rainy day (or a great purchase to make it free or nearly free :-) )

Use this link:
http://www.ruelala.com/invite/abeechan

I've browsed the site and they've had great designer stuff on different days.  You never know what exciting designer they'll list.  I've seen Diesel, J and Company jeans, Invicta watches and lots of others.  Low prices compared to what you would pay retail.

Dior Addict Shine... it's addicting.

I am addicted to this scent. I have so many samples of this because everytime I went to Sephora they would ask me what perfume sample I'd like and I always picked this one! My husband knew I was obsessed over this so he finally bought it for me last Christmas. It's nothing short of delicious. It's such a freshing scent without being overbearing. There is nothing worse than perfume that's so strong it makes you cough and sneeze. You won't get this here, sister. It's a very young and girly perfume but with a touch of sophistication.
Mmmmm.... I love it *smells writs*

(I wasted a lot of perfume trying to get this picture. Ha ha. Oh well.)

"Dior Addict Shine radiates its fresh fruity and glowing charm with an unexpected citrus-y top note of cedrat, a fresh middle note of gardenia and raspberry, and a sensual base note of cedar woods. Available exclusively at Sephora." -compliments of the Sephora website.

This runs $48 for .07oz or $67 for 1.7 oz ~Available exclusively at Sephora

What is your all time favorite scent? Have you tried Dior Addict Shine? If not.... you should!

What do you think about the Russian ice dance last night?

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

I totally missed the folk dance part of the ice dancing where the Russians are getting heat for the inaccurate aboriginal dance.  I did however catch their performance last night where they had ropes attached to their costumes that they used to do their lifts. So ok, it was allowed because there is nothing in the rules. It bothered me though watching their performance. It just felt like they were cheating to me.

After their performance the commentator made a statement with something to the affect that, we would probably see a new rule regarding costumes in the next olympics due to the ropes.  I mean, all the other countries are using their hands and lifting/flipping/carrying their partners in that way.  It seems to me that's the way it should be.  The Olympics are the best of the best.

I probably could have got over it,  until,  the Russians bumped the Americans out of 3rd place to medal. It just didn't seem right to me.  What is your take on it?

I have a link to a story i found regarding the aboriginal performance:
http://www.ctvolympics.ca/figure-skating/news/newsid=44529.html

And one to the costumes from last nights performance, found this on another blog and completely agree with her:

FOTD and my new love Olivia! :)

Monday, February 22, 2010

I'd like to introduce you to my new love Olivia.... by Stila. This lipstick is by far my new favorite lipstick and I think this may just be the first time I EVER finish a lipstick. I have lipstick commitment issues. I have a feeling I'm going to remain loyal to this beauty. There is a certain lip color I always seen on celebrities and think is the most amazing color ever... and I always would try and find the color and could never find it... until now. It's the perfect peachy nude without being too nude. It's perfect. My only gripe is it doesn't stay on very long.

Meet Olivia by Stila
With FLASH (someone asked in the comments what gloss I paired this with... no gloss! This lipstick is really glossy and creamy!!)
 Without FLASH

I got this from a Salon called POSH but I'm having trouble finding it online but I'm sure you could find it somewhere. I guess I'll have to go to POSH and stock up on a few of these.

Face of the day
What I used:
NARS Sheer Glow (in Punjab), MAC Strobe Cream, MAC Paint Pot (Painterly), MAC Studio Sculpt (in NW25), Tarte Eco Cheek, MAC e/s in Grande Entrance, MAC e/s in Club, NARS Deep Throat, LO'real voluminous mascara, MAC Paint Pot in Delft, MAC MSF Shimpagne, MAC Fluidline Glitz and Glitz, Stila Olivia.
MAC Club and MAC Paint Pot Delft
Tarte in Eco-Cheek
MAC MSF Shimpagne
Essie in "Shop Till I Drop"
Nail polish of the last few days though it's kinda wearing off today

I used MAC Painterly Paint pot all over my lid, MAC Delft Paint Pot on my lid just up to my crease, I then used MAC Club lightly over Delft and on my crease and outer corner. I used MAC Grand Entrance to highlight my brow bone.

I love the Tarte Blush paired with a touch of NARS Deep Throgt on the apple of the cheeks and MAC MSF Shimpagne for a beautiful highlight

I love you Olivia! :)

Every Woman Should Know

By

MAYA ANGELOU

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...

enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....

something perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...

a youth she's content to leave behind....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....

a past juicy enough that she's looking forward to
retelling it in her old age....

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ......

a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....

one friend who always makes her laugh... and one who lets her cry...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .....

a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ....

eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored...

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ...

a feeling of control over her destiny...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

how to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without;
ruining the friendship....

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW....

when to try harder... and WHEN TO WALK AWAY...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

that she can't change the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

that her childhood may not have been perfect...but it's over....

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

what she would and wouldn't do for love or more...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

how to live alone... even if she doesn't like it...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW. .

whom she can trust,
whom she can't,
and why she shouldn't take it personally...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

where to go...
be it to her best friend's kitchen table..
or a charming Inn in the woods...
when her soul needs soothing...

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW...

What she can and can't accomplish in a day...
a month...and a year...

Yes, Blogging IS the new Media... and I am grateful for that!

Friday, February 19, 2010

I really don't want to get myself in the middle of all the blogging drama going on but something about what was said really bothered me. I feel so grateful that I have gotten a change to know (and be apart) of the world of blogging and youtubing. I can honestly say I rarely buy magazines anymore to look up make up trends and find products. Why? What's the point when I can stay at home and look at 100's of my favorite beauty blogs written by girls just like me... REAL WOMAN with real thoughts and a REAL point of view. I don't just want to hear only good things about a product... I want to hear the ugly, too. I don't just want to see a professional picture of a product... I want to see it on the person, and the real color. I'm a real woman and not a make up artist so I love hearing from woman who are just like me and their thoughts and feelings about something. I'm more likely to want to try something that the average woman raves about over a professional that is paid to write about it. I think you get the real nitty gritty that way. I respect the professionals who write professionally on beauty and I envy their job. I'm not for ONE second knocking them. I'm just saying that woman who blog should be respected as well... just because they don't do this for a living doesn't mean they don't have knowledge and expertise on what they are talking about. You learn things by trying things, researching, and using... and I think all these woman are experts in their own right.

So, I say THANK YOU to all the beauty bloggers out there... you have saved me so much money (and spent so much, too) and opened my eyes up to some many products I've never even heard about before. Thank you for all your hard work... taking pictures, editing, uploading, writing, filming videos, commenting. You all are great and help so many woman out there. Blogging is the new media, seriously. Like I said... I'd read you're girls blogs any day over a $5 magazine in the store... and I will learn so much more from you and for that I am greateful!!

Bronze, baby, bronze....

I love bronzers! Who really needs more than one bronzer? Well, apparently I do!! They all may look a little similar but each of them really do offer something unique and special. Some I use more than others because I think they are amazing and some are just ok and I reach for once in a blue moon.

"Illamasqua Bronzing Duo in Glint & Burnish"
Right now I'd have to say that this bronzer is my all time favorite. I have pretty fair skin and the color Glint in this duo surprisingly make the most perfect cheek bone contour especially because I am fair. It looks natural and glowy. I really wish they sold the Glint separately because I really do reach for that color more. I use the Burnish to add a little warmth to my forehead and temples. It's $27 from Sephora.com This bronzer is amazing, amazing.... can we say amazing?

"Chanel's Soliel tan de Chanel"
This bronzer is truly unique! It's kind of a dense mousse powder. This baby is a lot of money (around $50) but it WILL last you forever. I've had this for almost a year and I've barely made a dent in it. I use my Sigma SS168 (which is a large angled contour brush) and I lightly tap the product on the brush (you don't need a lot) and gently buff the color in. The color in the swatch looks quite orange but it's really not. It's actually quite natural on the skin. This also can be used as a base for your powder bronzer to help it adhere better.

"Hoola by Benefit"
I really, really like this bronzer. I think it gives a really beautiful natural skin kissed glow. This color is completely matte so because of that it's going to look really nice and natural. This was my first "real" bronzer I ever bought and I didn't like it at first. At first I thought it looked really muddy on my skin but that's because I wasn't doing it right. A light hand is key and not putting it ALL over your face. Bronzers are made to give you warmth and definition not to make you look like you are of a different ethnicity. If you are fair and putting it all over your face is going to be a dead giveaway that you are wearing something to make your look tan. That can be obvious and we aren't going for obvious (at least I'm not)!
This is $28

"Too Faced - Snow Bunny"
I've had this bronzing/highlight for a few years. The MUA artist talked me into it because she said "You know how Jennifer Lopez always glows? Well, that's because she uses this". Sucker. I don't even know if that's true or not. I'd say this is my most subtle bronzer but it really does give a very pretty glow and highlight to the face/cheeks. This bronzer has 4 different colors that can be swirled all together or you can use each color alone. The pearl color makes a really pretty highlight. This is $27.

"Too Face Sun Bunny"
This bronzer is really similar to the Illamasqua bronzer duo (shown above) but it's a little darker. The same goes with this bronzer you can use each other alone or mix them together. I perfect to use the lighter color on my cheek bones and the darker color on my forehead. This bronzer is very pretty and very natural on your face. $27

"Nars Laguna"
This is a NARS cult classic. I think almost every make up junkie has this in her collection or has tried it at least once. I do like it but I don't get the cult following. It's pretty but it's not the greatest of great... in my opinion. It does give off a very pretty color but you have to be careful not to go overboard with this one because it has the potential of going on really dark if you use a heavy hand. I really like the color it gives and probably would buy it again. It's $32
There has been rumors that this is going to be discontinued but I think that's just a rumor. I don't know WHY they would discontinue one of their best sellers.

"Bare Minerals in Warmth"
This is one that I don't grab for very often... if ever. Every once in a while I use it for a bronzy blush but probably only in the summer. This color is pretty bronzy orange but it does look pretty on the cheeks. You also need to go lightly with this color because you don't want to look like an ompa lumpa. It's a loose mineral power so it can be kinda messy. It's nice but I don't really use it.

"E.L.F in Warm" from their Studio Line
ELF products rock. Plain and simple. I think this product was $3! The quality is really nice and the color is equally as nice. I don't love it for some reason and don't use it that often but for $3 it's so beyond worth it to have in your collection. The color this gives really does warm up for face and it gives a very beautiful natural look. This comes with 4 colors and they look amazing mixed together.
The color was a little more reddish in person than I was hoping for but it's not too bad. Very pretty.

So, my loves.... bronze away!
