TruBlend...I wish!

Thursday, April 30, 2009

I don't like giving something a bad review, I really don't. However when I try a product that isn't good (at least it wasn't for me) than I want to share the reasons why I didn't like it and maybe help you save some money. Some products work for some people and some don't. This product did NOT work for me.

CoverGirl TruBlend Whipped Foundation

I am on a mission to find a cheaper version of the Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturizer but I'm beginning to realize nothing is going to compare.
I found the Covergirl TruBlend Whipped foundation tonight at Rite Aid. It looked light, creamy and beautiful in it's little glass jar. I opened the top and it looked like it might be a winner but than I notice something...the scent smells like a cheap liquid hand soap at a gas station. Yuck. I try and forget about the horrible scent and apply it to my face... this is the biggest mistake I've made since I tried MAC SFF (this mistake may be worse!!). It is so greasy... and greasy is an under statement in my opinion. Coverage leaves a lot to be desired...it's very sheer and in the worst possible way. I had a hard time finding the right color match as well. It's hard when you can't actually see the true color through the glass. It doesn't really blend that well and took a few layers to even look half way decent.

The very worst thing about this product is within 3 hours of putting it on it's completely broken me out. 5 new blemishes in 3 hours. Not only did it break me out it made my whole face feel soooo itchy! I hate this stuff and it's going back tomorrow. Biggest waste of money.

Now I'm off to scrub my itcy face. Get this stuff off of me!!

Have you tried this product? Did this happen to you or did you have any luck?

Doesn't it look pretty? Like beauty goes..it's what's in inside that counts!!

What's HOT...what's NOT.

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

What's HOT and what's NOT...this my own opinion..so if I offend you or something you like is "not hot" than I'm sorry. If you like what I don't than that's totally fine. To each is their own!!:)

HOT- Faux Tans... St. Tropez, baby.
NOT- Tanning Beds. I used to be addicted but it REALLY ages you... and fast.

HOT- Mixing it up between high-end make-up and drug store make-up.
NOT- Being a high-end snob and looking down on others who use drugstore make-up.

HOT- Youtube
NOT- TV ( I barely watch TV anymore...maybe 3 or 4 times a week. CRAZY... I know).

HOT-Coach purses. Classy, well made, beautiful. While still expensive they aren't over the top.
NOT- Louis Vouttin. Don't get me wrong...I like Louis Vuitton. But, $1000 for a brown leather purse with LV on it... I just don't get it. I do like the look and think they are classy but they are more for show.. like "hey look at me... I'm rich."

HOT- Caffeine free coca-cola (not diet)...it's still not good for me but at least I cut out that nasty caffeine. It's like a drug. lol
NOT-Regular coca-cola

HOT- Twitter
NOT- myspace

Barry M #44 Bronze Dazzle Dust

Sunday, April 12, 2009

For you girls in the UK...I'm so jealous. It's just not fair we don't have Barry M in the US. Bubblegarm sent me a sample a while back when we did a swap and it's since become one of my favorites.
I ordered two off of ebay for $23 (I think with shipping)...but worth it, sooo worth it.
I love to pair the #44 Bronze Dazzle dust with MAC Woodwinked (Woodwinked has gold/bronze undertones so they work perfect together).
If you get a chance to get your hands on this... do it. You won't regret it!!!
I used this ebay seller- claire42rr She has 100% positive feedback!

Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer=LOVE!!!

I really honestly can't say enough about the Laura Mericer tinted moisturizer. It's the dream "foundation". I'm not into foundations at ALL...as you know. I don't like the cakey unnatural look it gives. This is totally different. Every time I put it on it's like the first time. Ha ha. I think to myself "wow this stuff is amazing!". It give such a beautiful dewy glow.. but in a GOOD way. It's a tinted moisturizer so obviously it's not a full coverage foundation but if you don't need that than this is perfect for you. Want a flawless face...this will give you just that. It evens out your skin tone and creates a very smooth, beautiful, flawless face. This will not accentuate your pores like some foundations. It's virtually... perfect. The only thing I don't like about it is the price tag! $42 big ones for this... but it's worth it. I've found my HG foundation AT LAST!!!!!
I use the Oil Free in the color nude.

PS- all my thanks goes to the sweet Nadia lovelipstickandlime.blogspot.com who was sooooo nice to send me a sample of this. If it was not for her than I'd still be on the hunt for my HG!!!:) I'm so thankful.

In the color NUDE...not blended

Blended in...isn't it very natural?

A review: St. Tropez Whipped Bronze Mousse

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

By far the BEST self tanner that I've EVER used. No joke. St. Tropez Whipped Bronze Mousse is also different than any self tanner I've ever used. It comes in pump type bottle. When you shake the bottle the tanner is in a liquid form but when you push down the pump the product comes out as a foamy dark mousse.

The whipped mousse glides on the skin very smooth and because of the dark color you can see exactly where you are distributing it so that means no streaks or patches. You see instant color but the color deepens and develops to it's full color in 3 hours. So, make sure you don't shower within those 3 hours. The color always turns out to a nice golden brown shade that looks very natural and you can always just a apply a little at first and then gradually build it to a darker looking tan.

-Perks that this tanner has-
Dries in 60 seconds...yes...60 seconds. That means no more waiting around in your bathroom for 5 minutes for it to try so you can put your clothes on.

-There is NO scent. Thank you, thank you ST. Tropez. I have the funky scents most self tanners have.

-The color! It's stunning. It's VERY natural... and has a way of always making you look so glowey and 10lbs lighter...seriously.

-Your face and make-up will look better!!

-It lasts 3-4 days

CONS-
There aren't many...

-The price! 4oz is $22 and the $8oz is $38 or $40 ( I can't remember).
I got mine from www.essentialdayspa.com

-It stains your hands if you don't wear gloves so be careful and wash them right away or wear gloves!

If you end up getting it...I hope you love it as much as I do. It's amazing! People will ask you if you "went somewhere warm"...I bet ya $10!

This baby has touched my heart!

Thursday, April 2, 2009

I've been reading about baby Stellan on his mommas blog www.mycharmingkids.net and I can't stop thinking about him. Even if I didn't have kids his story still would have touched my heart but now that I'm a mom is rips my heart out. I think about what if that was my baby (my son is a day younger than Stellan) and I put myself in that mommas shoes. Please check out this website www.mycharmingkids.net and spread his story to everyone you know. If you believe in prayer than please say a prayer for him!!
