Frustrated with Lockerz.com

Saturday, January 30, 2010

I signed up with Lockerz.com back in August. It was before their big launch happened in October. At the time I saw they had some really great prizes for reasonable amounts of points. Prizes like Nintendo DS, Xbox 360 games, portable dvd players and lots more. I was saving my points to get a really great prize.

Since then however I always somehow missed out on the prize redemptions. They won't announce exactly when the prize redemptions are. Half the time it for "Zlisters only" meaning the people that referred at least 20 people to the site.

In the last few months you can't even get in to see what prizes will be available. I saw in their posting that they were going to have redemption in January but weren't announcing when again. I checked back everyday since I saw the message, multiple times a day. I must have checked 10 times today at different times.

I was on twitter today and saw a tweet from Lockerz.com "Thanks to all who participated in the redemption today" I freaked. I went to the site and it had info posted for those who did redeem. Though I really have to wonder if there really was a redemption considering I checked the site 10x today. So I have 100s of points that are pretty much worthless because I can't ever use them.

What exactly is the point of the site if you can't ever use the points?

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss! Amazing. Love. Beauty.

Friday, January 29, 2010

I've tried $30 lip glosses and I've tried $6 lip glosses... this gem of a gloss that's only $6 (and change) takes the cake! I'm seriously so impressed with the Revlon Super Lustrous lip glosses! If you blind folded me and put this on my lips there is no way I'd think it was only $6. The quality is amazing. It's such a smooth, non sticky gloss and beautiful. Revlon needs a standing ovation for these glosses (or one of them at least...read on).  I got the colors Nude Lustre, Pink Afterglow, and Pink Pursuit. I really love these colors! They aren't extremely pigmented but the color they do give is really, really nice. They each have a touch of shimmer in them... some more than others. My favorite is Nude Lustre... it's a very pretty warm peachy pink color and it has almost an unnoticeable amount of sparkle but just enough to make me happy. Next one I bought is Pink Afterglow. This color is the brightest out of the trio that I own and by far packed with the most glitter... like you can feel the glitter bits on your lips. I'm not a huge fan of that feeling. The color payoff with Pink Afterglow is kinda disappointing. It looks very pink in the tube but on the lips it's quite sheer and full of glitter
The last one I'm going to tell you about is Pink Pursuit. This color is a light mauvey baby pink. This one also has more glitter than I like but not as much as Pink Afterglow. This one also is quite sheer but the color is nice.
The only one that I know I will buy again is Nude Lustre. This gloss is such HIGH quality... it's better than most $30 glosses that I have tried.

I think they did an amazing job on the packaging... it doesn't look like a cheap drug store lipgloss (minus the gold on Revlon... I don't like "gold" on packaging). These have SPF 15 and are only $6 (and change) at your local drugstore or wherever Revlon is sold.

These look a little darker than the actual color but you get the picture. :)

Natural Light
I lovveeee this gloss!!

Sephora and Still Glamorus Products

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

Hello my gorgeous Vixxens! So I did a little haul on Youtube today on some products I purchased from Sephora and Still Glamorus Cosmetics.

This was my purchase from Sephora. I got a lip gloss palette for $10.00. I really like this product because the lip glosses actually feel like lip balm and not sticky gloss. It comes (as you can see) in a good variety! I highly recommend!
Want to check it out? Click Here---; LIPGLOSS

Then from the Valentines Collection I bought the Lip Gloss set for $25.00. You can only purchase it online. It came with 7 different kinds ranging in colors from light pink to red. Very good value!
Check it out here--- VALENTINE

This was my purchase from Still Glamorus. The names of the colors are Christmas Tree, Forget Me Not and Snow Flake. They are really pretty shades and have a sparkle to them. I paid $4.50 each for the first and last ones and $6.50 for the middle one.

The top swatches are with F.Y.Eye Primer and the bottom is without. As you can see they are sooo pretty!

Nail Polish Review!

Monday, January 25, 2010

Hello Vixxens! So while watching a youtube video, I stumbled upon a website that sells nail supplies and polish. The name of the web site is Transdesign. The prices are very affordable (I think). So in the left hand corner of the website, I clicked on polishes and went through the TONS of colors and I chose 6 of them. ( I totally wanted about 50, but yah know!)

So here are the colors that I chose:

O.P.I Matte in Alpine Snow,China Glaze in C-C-Courage(from The Wizard of Oz collection), China Glaze in Laced Up, China Glaze in Flyin' High, China Glaze in Lubu Heels (also from The Wizard of Oz collection) & INK with nail brush (black).

I've used the white and INK for my zebra nails, which is in one of the previous posts. I felt they were really good value and shipping was very prompt. I paid about $22.99 for all six nail polishes and shipping combined! I hope you enjoyed!

Hello Vixxens!
It's been a while since I made a blog, so I figured I would share the nail design I just did tonight. It is zebra stripes(as you will see) using OPI Matte in Alpine Snow(any white nail polish will do) and INK fine pointed nail brush (any black, tiny brush will do). I bought them from www.transdesign.com

Well I hope you enjoyed my mini nail polish showing :)

My review of Diamond Creek Candles: Read before you make a decision

Saturday, January 23, 2010

As some of you may know I was a Diamond Creek Candles consultant. I had been a consultant for only about 8 months. I'm going to tell you both the pros and cons of this company through my experience and from what I've heard from other consultants both current and former.

When I started it was April 2009. They offered a 30 day free trial and at that time also offered a free consultant program. Some of the positives of the company was that:
1. There WAS no start up fees or monthly fees unless you chose to upgrade to one of the bigger consultant packages.
2. There is no quotas, not required to keep inventory, no required parties, and the opportunity to take your business as far as you wanted
3. This is probably the best one...They really do have great quality products with great scent choices that other candle companies just didn't offer.
4. The product prices were very reasonable especially when compared to other candle companies.
5. They offer a dropship program for if you wanted to sell through your own website, ebay, etc.
6. They offered whole sale (in the pay plans) for if you wanted to buy bulk quantities for craft shows, etc.

That being said let me tell you why I'm no longer a consultant. In the 8 short months I was a consultant many changes were made. They got rid of the free 30 day trial and the free consultant program. DCC stated the reason for this was that they wanted serious consultants. Though when I was in the free program i was selling just the same as when I upgraded to the gold program. Many of the consultants that had been there longer than me took this change the hardest. They lost a lot of their downlines and commissions. This is coming from consultants I've talked to.

The shipping rates were unfair in my opinion. As a customer or consultant if you ordered only 1 candle you paid $9.80 for shipping and the shipping went up from there. When consultants tried to give suggestions about othere shipping options the owners of DCC didn't want to listen and would delete conversations about it on the forums or group.

They changed the way the wholesale and drop ship sites worked for consultants. IT used to be you could order a case of candles on the wholesale site and pay only about $10 for shipping. Now the consultants have to add them individually and shipping more than doubles that. Cutting into consultant profits siginificantly for shows or if consultants wanted to stock an inventory.

As a consultant it would take my orders a month or more until I received them. They stated it was because they took care of customer orders first and then consultants which would be understandable if my customers weren't asking me "It's been 2 week, 3weeks, whatever and I haven't received my order where is it?"

The customer service from DCC for both consultants and customers was minimal if not non existent at times. One of my best customers put in an order waited 3 weeks and still did not receive her order. She stated she tried to contact them several times via email (because it's the only contact option they give you) and never heard back. I attempted to contact them for her. They got back to me and said "there was a problem with the credit card on her order". Which would have been fine but when were they plannig on telling my customer or me?

I had a large order from my work place. I put it through and did not receive it for over a month. It was my first large order and it made me look terrible as a consultant. I lost a few customers over that. When I'd email about it i got the run around.

I had a home party in the beginning of November and got a decent number of sales from it. Placed the order and waited almost 3 weeks to receive it. I did not receive a peice of the order that was paid for. Some replacment hallogen bulbs I had orderd for my tart warmer. I emailed them about it, they apologized and said the would get them right out. I waited and here it is Jan 23rd and still no hallogen bulbs that i paid for. I emailed them again about it and they said they sent them out via ups in a bubble envelope but if I did not receive them they would send them out again but offered no tracking number and offered no money back.

The last straw? (As if that shouldn't have been enough), I had $45 in commission in my DCC account. I earned this the beginning of Nov from the home party (my home party was Nov 7) and a small sale before that. I had not received the money by the end of Nov so I emailed them. They stated that the money earned then would not be paid until Dec. I waited. I could have really used the money for Christmas expenses. I never saw the money deposited to may account in Dec. I just recently went back and reviewed my account statements back until the middle of Nov. and sure enough the money was never paid to me. I still had no received the payment as of Jan 19. So I emailed them. The response was: We only pay once a month so you should get paid in Jan. I told them the money was from Nov and I should have been paid sooner and they did not get back to me and it is now Jan 23.

I emailed them and asked them to please cancel my account. I was very polite about it especially considering how T'd off I am at this point. The response I got back: "ok it taken care of I have canceled your account" No, why are you cancelling, no we really appreciate your business nothing.

I've talked to several other consultants who tell me they also haven't been paid and a few others have also not received products they ordered.

If you do a search for Diamond Creek Candles on the internet you will find I am not the only unhappy former consultant. In fact I found a whole forum dedicated to it.

L'OREAL EverPure Hair Masque! Say YES to soft hair!

Friday, January 22, 2010

I've tried my fair share of moisturizing hair masks in my day... I've been unfortunate to have been stuck with really dry hair (why couldn't I have been born with sleek, soft hair???). None of the masque's I've tried in the past really blew me away or made a real noticeable different in the softness...some even left my hair feel more tangled than before I used it. This past summer I tried the L'OREAL EverPure Moisture Deep Restorative Masque (Sulfate Free) and let me tell you... it's the best deep conditionar (masque) I've EVER tried. Ever. Period. When you rinse it out in the shower you can already feel how smooth and conditioned your hair feels. After I use this my hair feels noticeably soft, smoother and it styles really amazing after I use this. The scent is so yummy... it's a soft rosemary mint and it smells amazing. I highly, highly recommend you try this if you have dry hair or you are looking for an amazing hair masque. This is my 2nd jar of this.... and NOT my last.
Have you tried this?

L'oreal says: EverPure Moisture Deep Restorative Masque is an intensive, rich treatment for dry, damaged hair. The Powerful moisturizing cream restores and deeply nourishes for soft, shiny hair. Apply to wet hair, concentrating mostly on the ends. Leave on for 3-5 mins. Rinse. Soft hair is waiting for you!

It's only $9 from any drugstore/walmart/target, etc.

Marie Claire picked this product as one of their best 25 beauty products of the year. I agree... and I can see why! It's some good stuff.

Candle Testers anyone interested?

I'm getting into candle making. I've made some scented jar candles that turned out pretty good. I want to try making some taper candles next. They will not be scented but I'm going to try coloring them.

I had been letting friends and coworkers test them to give me their opinion. What I wanted to do thought was have some people try them once I make them to give me your honest feedback on them. If anyone would be interested leave a comment here. I'll take the first 3 seriously interested people. I'll let you know when I will be sending them out. In exchange for your feedback: positive and/or negative because I'd like to be able to eventually sell them at craftshows. I will ask that you leave your feedback here. You also have to be a blog follower and a twitter follower. @angiewith3

So to some up: First 3 interested people willing to give honest feedback on my homemade candles and post it here on my blog. I will let you know when I'm going to send them out (I'm looking to start this in February)the first set of volunteers will test taper candles.

Woman in Red Racers. Get Debt Free.

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

My new year's resolution the last few years has been to pay off my debts. I immediately started by using cash only for purchases. (Mostly because I didn't have a choice...Bankruptcy in my history long story). I own 1 active credit card with only a $300 limit mostly for credit rebuilding.

I am proud to say that I did pay of 3 debts last year. Unfortunately, I have a lot of debt from a previous marriage that I am handling on my own. (My ex won't help with them though they were joint debts). I have a strong desire to rebuild my credit and eliminate my debt.

I've heard about different methods but none of them really hit me. Some co-workers were discussing "Dave Ramsey" one day and I listened in. I didn't know much about his method and never really looked into it. I thought "I can do this my own way". While I did manage to pay off a few debts it still seemed so overwhelming to me.

Fate seemed to toss me a bone today. I logged out of my email account and found a link to "Woman in Red Racer" Here is info directly from the msn Woman in Red Racers group as to what it is about:

"We are an informal, mostly online group, comprised of thousands of women (and some men) around the country--dedicated to finding financial sanity. Some of you know this already.

"The Women in Red (WIR) began about five years ago, when MP Dunleavey started writing about a small group of real women in her column, who were struggling with debt, job loss, growing kids, reluctant husbands and other financial issues. (Read one of the most popular WIR articles here.)"
Source: http://bit.ly/8gb5rt

They say they go along the lines of Dave Ramsey using the snowball method which really made sense to me when I read it and they explained it further. I joined the northeast group. I'm strapping down and getting really serious this year. If you too want to check it out here is a link:

http://moneycentral.msn.com/community/message/board.asp?Board=WomenInRed

I've also enclosed a link to Dave Ramsey's book if anyone was curious about that. I have some friends that say it really works.

Reece's Rainbow

I only learned about this Reece's Rainbow recently from a fellow blogger, Grissell. I took a look at the website and gladly posted the button on my blog. I found myself drawn to go back to the site. I felt as though I wanted to do more. I looked at the website and found myself in tears. All these poor children who need loving families and medical care.

Where I'm not in a position to be able to adopt, I wanted to be able to help someone who is in a position to do so. Reece's rainbow website takes donations that are used to help adoptive families with the cost of international adoption. All of the children are special needs.

http://networkedblogs.com/p24375484

I made a small donation myself. Reading through the information the website is saying it can cost $25,000 for a family to adopt a special needs child internationally. If these children are not adopted at an early age they are sent away to institutions for the rest of their lives.

It breaks my heart to see the pictures of their sweet smiling faces. As a healthcare worker, I think, "this child could be helped with a few surgeries, or "in the right environment this child could do fairly well."

Please consider making a donation to this wonderful organization. You're donation could extend the life, quality and happiness of a child's future and help place them in a loving home.

Cream Blushes- NYX and MAC Lilicent

MAC LILICENT

In December I picked up the MAC Lilicent cream blush and I fell in love with it. I've never been a huge fan of cream blushes. I would apply them with my fingers and it never looked right. My face always felt sticky and greasy. MAC Lilicent change my heart and mind... at least for MAC cream blushes. MAC Lilicent is a beautiful pink peach color.... it gives a very fresh dewy glow to the skin... which I totally adore! It actually is quite pigmented so using a lighter hand might be a good idea. The staying powder of this is really great... it's about the same you would get with a MAC powder blush. I LOVE this color and think it's an amazing hue for any skintone. I am so excited to get my hands on other MAC cream blushes.... next is Ladyblush, me thinks. I use my MAC 188 with it and this brush has made all the difference in my love for this. I love the look this blush creates when used with this brush. I got this for $18.50 from MAC.

NYX Rose Petal, Natural, Boho Chic (click for a better look at the pretty colors)
Since I fell in love with Lilicent... I realised I totally love the look that cream blush gives... so I decided I've give the NYX cream blushes a try seeing as the colors they offer are SO pretty and they are only $7 each.
I have to admit I am kind of disappointed. They are extreamly soft and creamy in texture which in theory sounds nice but it's not. Because they are so soft you have the potential of creating a pretty significant finger dent in the blush if you aren't careful....they kind of mush and smush at the touch.
However, the colors I picked are really pretty. They aren't as pigmented as MAC Lilcent but the pay off is still very nice. They feel kind of sticky on my skin (unlike the MAC) but for $7 I think they are pretty good quality... minus how soft they are. NYX Natural and MAC Lilcent are very close dupes! I will post pictures below.

MAC Lilicent and NYX Natural

As you can see they aren't a perfect match but they are pretty close. NYX Natural is a little brighter pink but as you can see without a flash they look the same!!

My BOHO Chic came with tiny little air pockets in it. As you can see there are little bumps all around the edges... I don't know why it came like that but that's what you get for $7, I guess. I'm not bashing it... it's a lovely color and a GREAT price but you can't expect perfection.

Highlighters- a current obsession!

Sunday, January 17, 2010

I am dying to know.... what is your favorite highlighter? I've become a little obsessed, crazy, frantic in trying to find my holy grail highlighter. I love the look it gives and I think it's for sure a must have "pick me up" item in any make up bag!
I did find my holy grail highlighter ONCE but it's a very hard to find product.... almost next to impossible, really. A dear friend/blogger Nadia http://lovelipstickandlime.blogspot.com/ sent me a sample of the Red Earth Secret Potion in Thriller over the summer and since then I've been totally in love with this perfect, delicious, beautiful product. I still have some of the sample left because I covet it and only use it for special occasions. It's a beautiful light pink color and looks beyond amazing on the cheek bones.

Ahhh, isn't it beautiful.

Another highlighter that I use sometimes and really did love a lot (until the Secret Potion stole my heart) is the Smashbox Artificial light. This product is nice but compared to my HG it doesn't come close but it does the trick until I can find something better. This one has more of a yellow/pink glow and kinda gets chunky in the bottle if you let it sit too long. Shaking it up before you use it is a must.

I have recently tried the MAC Strobe Liquid and it's nice but no where near a HG at this time. It's pretty though. I just ordered the Boots no 7 illuminating lotion so I'm hoping this one is a winner. We'll see. Another product I am SO excited to try is the NARS Orgasm highlighter (not the blush... their new liquid version that has come out this month!!).... oh my, my... this one looks stunning and looks like it MIGHT *fingers crossed* be a dupe to my lovely Red Earth Secret Potion in Thriller.

So, what are your favorites... do tell. I'm trying to find a liquid highlighter with a very light pink base. Help me so I won't obsess anymore! :)

Get Green Get Free Stuff...a win, win situation

Thursday, January 14, 2010

I love the site: www.freestufftimes.com I find a lot of great free stuff on that site. This time I found out about "Recycle Bank". www.recyclebank.com
Registration for Recycle Banks is free. The idea is you earn points by doing things like: curbside recycling, sending in old cell phones and ipods, and joining the Kashless community which is also free: http://kashless.org/signup Where you can post your used items for free that someone else may want. As opposed to throwing them away. You can also get free stuff.

Trade in your points for things like gift cards, cleaning products, discounts, and more. I just ordered a free Seventh Generation all purpose cleaner and a free Seventh Generation natural dish liquid. You get 100 points just for making a free account on "Recycle Bank". I used that to get a free 6 month Pogo membership.

So you do green things and get points to get free stuff. Not bad huh?
Seventh Generation, Free & Clear All-Purpose Cleaner 32 Ounces
Seventh Generation Dish Liquid, Free & Clear, 25-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6)

***UPDATE Received my coupons today for free jar of Chick Chick Baby Food, 1 free seventh generation all purpose cleaner, and 1 fre Seventh Generation Dish Liquid

So excited to have got an email from Recycle bank to give me more info to share with you about recycle bank. I received this email from Melody Serafino with recyclebank and have provided most of the email for you all to read to learn more about recyclebank.

As you know, RecycleBank motivates people to become greener citizens and smarter consumers by rewarding them for recycling at home or taking greener actions. With a robust rewards program, there is an incentive for everyone for doing their part to make the world a bit greener.

In addition to our curbside recycling program – now servicing 25 states and growing– anyone, anywhere in the U.S. can sign up for a RecycleBank account and earn RecycleBank points for all kinds of greener actions like: reusing products through a free exchange on Kashless, recycling your MP3 players, laptops and cell phones, and joining eBay’s Green Team Community and working to use what already exists in the world today.

Here are some examples of how members can earn points:

· Getting a new sofa? Rather than putting the old one to the curb on trash day, post it on Kashless.org. Need a sofa, check the listings by state, city, mileage radius… and pick one up for free. RecycleBank will reward you for either side, because you saved landfill space. And, there are dozens of categories to share in this free exchange of goods!

· Today you can send in your old cell phones, laptops, and iPod/MP3 players and earn RecycleBank points for keeping them out of the landfill. Starting in April, we’ll be accepting 20 different types of electronic waste! Visit www.RecycleBank.com/earn/electronics to see how to download a postage paid label for e-waste.

· Ever realize how green eBay is? It’s the ultimate source of that second of the three “R”s in the familiar environmental saying: reduce, reuse, and recycle. Join the eBay Green Team community through RecycleBank and you’ll earn 50 more points! Soon, you’ll even be able to use use your points for eBay transactions and make reuse even easier and more appealing!

Share the love- Blog Edition

Monday, January 11, 2010

I love finding new beauty bloggers. I think each new person brings something new and amazing to the table. Each girl has a different look, different ideas and of course great thoughts on beauty. The girls named below are bloggers I've found in the past month or two. If you aren't named that doesn't mean I don't think you are just amazing and beautiful.... I've been following a lot of you for almost a year and think you all are AMAZING.

Here are the girls I think you should check out that I have recently discovered.

http://cherylsbeautyblog.blogspot.com/ Cheryl is so beautiful it's unfair. She has the most perfect skin and her make up is always amazing. She does really awesome reviews and her swatches are so helpful. I think all of you should check her out.

http://thehollywoodheels.blogspot.com/ Chloe is so stunning! Her looks and fashion sence are to die for. She does great reviews and the swatches she takes are just as good. She not only does amazing make up but she is SO talented at "airbrushing" pictures. You really should look at the before and after pictures she has worked on... your jaw will drop. Great work and a great blog!!

http://www.beautyswatch.com/ Hands down the best blog I've found for swatches. This girl has tried it all!! I think she mostly reviews lip products which is awesome because that's my addiction. Pretty much any color you are wondering about she has reviewed and taken pictures of on her lips. That's so helpful to me because I love knowing what the color looks like on actual lips!

http://www.theshadesofu.com/ I swear to you... anytime I do a google image search looking for something this wonderful blogger always comes up! She does awesome reviews and talk about amazing swatches and helpful advice on the products. She is so beautiful and her make up is always flawless. I think every single blush color she wears is too die for.... but I think everything must just looks like perfection on her!!

Anxiously awaiting Alice!

Friday, January 8, 2010

I really want to see Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland when it comes out. Johnny Depp as the mad hatter. Ann Hathaway as the white queen. I can't wait. But unfortunately I have to.

I'm also a big fan of Urban Decay cosmetics. I love the glitter and vibrant colors. Love Midnight Cowboy eye shadow, Love the "big fatty" mascara, love the...well I could go on and on. I just saw via twitter @urbandecay411 that they are having an eye shadow book called "Alice in Wonderland book of shadows". The colors are awesome and look so fun to experiment with. I guess I know what I'm treating myself to with my christmas money. I've def gotta have this! I'll be keeping tabs on it. Here's a link to the "Alice in Wonderland book of shadows by Urban Decay" if you want to check it out:

MAC Cream Cup & MAC Dazzleglass Rags to Riches

Thursday, January 7, 2010

I was watching a video by filthygorgeousmakeup (who is beyond stunning by the way) and became  obsessed with the color she was wearing on her lips. ( Link to the video with the glosses ) I of course ran out and got both of the products she used in that video which were the MAC Cream Cup lipstick and MAC Dazzleglass in Rags to Riches. I do have to say they looked way better on her but over all I am pretty pleased with them. I think they look great worn alone and also great a beautiful combo when worn together.

MAC Cream Cup lipstick

I really am loving the Cream Cup lipstick. It's such a beautiful, light, feminine pink. It's a very light "barbie" pink color with blue undertones. It's more cool toned and I usually like warm tones but it's so pretty that I'm willing over look that minor detail.  It's very wearable and so creamy in texture. I've heard people compare this to MAC Angel but with a tiny bit of shimmer. Perfect.

MAC Dazzleglass in Rags to Riches

This was my first time trying a Dazzleglass... I always stayed away from them because everyone said that they are so sticky...which they are but they aren't as sticky as I predicted. I've felt worse. I honestly really like this gloss. Worn alone it's quite sheer with a hint of pinkish lilac and a whole lot of silver, gold and purple tiny sparkles. I personally don't think it's too over board in the sparkle dept but it may not be everyones cup of tea. The texture is nice, smooth but yes sticky. I think this color looks amazing paired with a lipstick and specifically the MAC Cream Cup lipstick.

So, over all I am so pleased with this combo however I don't think this is really a winter combo... I think it will look better in the summer and preferably with tan. I think I can pull this color combo off but barely.... it cames close to washing me out and making me look like an old lady who wore the baby pink lipstick but I haven't crossed that line yet and I think I can pull it off.... at least I think I can. Doesn't matter... I like it.... and that's all that matters. If the shoe fits wear it....
