Dollywink Long Mascara Review + Dollywink Eyelash No.5 Real Nude

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Hello~~~so I've bought a couple of things from pretty&cute.com and that includes the Dollywink Long Mascara and eyelashes No.5 Real Nude!!

I wish I was able to buy both the Long and Volume Mascara but I'm pretty close to being broke T^T!!

I've heard by layering both of them together, there will be beautiful results♥ Once I get my hands on the Volume mascara =] I promise I'll do another review using both of them together~~BUT...for now I only have the Dollywink Long Mascara, and that is the one I'll be reviewing today♥

First off, my lashes are pretty short because I cut them off in 10th grade =_=...I thought they would grow back longer but..NEVER HAPPENED!!!

No Mascara Lashes:

As you can see, I have no lashes >.>"

Wearing Dollywink Long Mascara (under view & front view):

I'm sure you can see the difference between no mascara & mascara~

My take on the Long Mascara is that it does lengthen as seen in photograph but of course it can't compare to wearing fake eyelashes. This mascara also doesn't budge without warm water. My normal waterproof makeup remover actually has a hard time removing this, while water easily rinses it off. The mascara also comes off in pieces just like Imju Fiberwig mascara. Another good thing is that this mascara doesn't really clump unless you layer it too much while it has already dried. I think if I were to use this with the volume mascara, maybe the results would have been better?

I wouldn't say this is my favorite mascara in the world, but the packaging is really adorable and it works pretty well for bottom lashes. I think it is very similar to the Fiberwig mascara but I haven't used that one for a long time so I'm not sure which one is better. The downside is that this mascara is a bit pricey but it is around the same price as the Fiberwig. I think I might go back to try the Fiberwig again, just to see which one is better~~

Moving on to the Dollywink Lashes~~

I've always wanted to try bottom lashes because it makes the eyes appear larger and these looked quite natural so I thought why not??

Sadly, when I wear these, I don't get why it looks so unnatural on me =[ They only look acceptable in photographs but in real life, I look FREAKY. It looks too harsh for an everyday look. I might try these again some time and maybe update this review, but for now I would probably only wear these if I'm looking for a dramatic makeup look or if I'm doing a photo shoot~~I wouldn't say that I don't recommend these because I have read such good reviews about these lashes from other people so I'm guessing it works differently for each person ^_^

Here is how it looked on me:

This was my first time wearing them so it looks a bit messy >_<~~

More reviews to come =D~~

Outfit of the day... I'm a cougar. Rarrrw.

I am loving this leopard shirt from H&M but I do feel slightly uncomfortable in it because it's bolder than I usually go for. I love the fabric and cut of it and I think it will go cute with a lot of things. I got this yesterday for around $29.

-Jeans are from Charlotte Russe "Opal Jeans". Not sure if these are flare or boot cut.
-Belt Target
-Watch Micheal Kors
-Necklace Lisa Taubes
-Nail polish Essie Turquoise and Caico
-We went out to a yummy middle eastern restaurant and I wore black BCBG boots {not pictured}

My son wanted to join in on the "fun". He was my shirtless cowboy today!:)

Finally! ELF Studio Contour brush- a small crease brush on the cheap

I have been casually searching for an inexpensive, small, preferably "pencil" type of crease brush for what seems to have been the longest time.  I know Sigma has one along with Coastal Scents and other various online retailers, but it's hard to know exactly what they look like from a computer screen.  This is why I was really hoping to find one in person so I could see what I was getting (and I have a hard time convincing myself to buy stuff online... a story for another day!).  Well, it is like pretty darn difficult to find a large variety of brushes in stores that aren't as expensive as MAC.  EcoTools is great, love them, but they don't have all the different types of brushes that I want.  Sonia Kashuk has a crease brush that I own (it's pictured below), but it's not what I'm looking for.  When I was shopping at Target a couple weeks ago, I stumbled across the ELF Studio Contour brush that has been patiently waiting in my online shopping cart for me to place an order.  This is new, guys!  And I was so excited to see it because I've been wanting to try it for the longest time, but was hesitant to order online.  Long story short, I grabbed it right away.
Here are my thoughts on it!

(Left to right: ELF Studio Contour brush, ELF Eye Definer brush, Sonia Kashuk Crease brush)

From what I've used of it so far, this is the best crease brush I've been able to find and for the lowest price.  It's $3, and I was able to find it at Target, so I saved myself the cost of shipping, yes!

Its small size makes it perfect for precise crease work and that "outer v" area of the eyelid.  For comparison, I pictured it next to the ELF $1 Eye Definer brush and the Sonia Kashuk Crease brush.  The Sonia Kashuk brush isn't a favorite of mine because of its roundness and larger size- it's almost too big for my crease.  The Studio Contour brush is small enough so it places color exactly where I want it.  It's also a little more pointed than the SK, which is really rounded.
In an ideal world, I'd have the Contour brush pointed like the MAC 219, but that's probably asking too much for $3! The 219 has been on my wishlist this past year for its precision and ability to apply color to the lower lashline.  The ELF Contour brush is too rounded for the lower lashline, but it's still perfect for those of us with smaller creases or more deep-set eyes who just don't like doing too much in the crease (like me!).
The synthetic bristles are firm and dense, which allows for more control.  They also pick up color well- I like to kind of "roll" the brush into my eyeshadows.  I find this picks up color the best way.
I've also given it one quick wash, and no bristles came out.

If you've been looking for a nice, quality crease brush that's inexpensive, definitely take a look at your Target for this one!  I'm really impressed so far.
Have you tried this ELF brush?  I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Benefit Radiant Skincare colletion

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

I was e-mailed a coupon from Sephora VIB to try  a sample pack of Benefit's new skincare line called Radiant. I had no expectations since I hadn't heard anything about it before that but I like free things so hey why not give it a go. I cannot tell you how pleased and happy I am that I picked this up! You all know that I'm a bit of a skincare junkie and it does take a lot to impress me because I do have rather sensitive skin and can break out at the tip of a hat if something irritates my skin.
This sample pack came with three items
{I don't know if this sample pack is still available or not}.

The packaging is too cute... gotta love when thought and creativity goes into something!

{Also, sorry for the lack of "real" photos... my son lost my photo card for my camera, again! }

1. It's Potent! eye cream- this eye cream is awesome. It is fragrance free and extremely silky to the touch. You can see the brighting effects right away! I really like this eye cream a lot!

2. Foamingly clean facial wash- I can't tell you how much I LOVE this cleanser. I already ordered one the day I put this lovely product on my face! This is a lot like the Missha Super Aqua cleaner I love but this one is a lot more accessible to get and dare I say it does make my face feel softer and smoother. It's seriously like silk! The scent is out of this world delish. It's honestly really nice. I'm a huge fan of foam cleansers so this is perfect for me. Also, it's $21 which I don't think is too bad in price... I thought it was going to be a lot more so I am very surprised!

3.Triple performing facial emulsion spf 15- another product that really blew me away. This has the same scent as the cleaner and I can't get enough of it. This really does a great job at moisturizing my face and leaving it baby soft. I love that it keeps my face really nice and smooth but it's not a thick and heavy cream! You do get quite a bit with the sample so I have a week or two left until I finish it and this WILL be something I will order as well. The only thing I don't like is the glass bottle. I know they wanted it to be cute but it's a pain to get product out... it's kinda like a glass ketchup bottle... if you know what I mean :::tap tap tap::: But, other then that... it's perfection... for me. Again, this is only $28! Not bad, not bad at all.
PS- this is oil free! :)

So, from what I tried... I am IN LOVE with this new line and I can't wait to try more. I am counting the days until my cleaner comes!

Have you tried this? What did you think? Were you love like I am??

*I am still using the Glamoxy Snake Serum and incorporated these products with it.

My first article is published. Won't you stop by and show me some love?

In my almost daily scouting for my blog I came across a posting looking for a spa/beauty writer for my local town. Write for the examiner.com. I though with my inside info as a blogger on new products and reviews that I might have a chance. What a fun column to have as well. So, I took a chance and submitted an application. Guess who the new Spa/Beauty Examiner is for my local area? Yep, me.  I'm a little nervous.  I know it sounds crazy since I faithfully keep up my blog.  I guess it's because I'm diving into a new sea of readers.  Don't worry tough this blog is my baby.  This is my priority.

I just had my first article accepted and published for my column.  I'd love it if you'd stop by, check it out, leave me a comment if you feel so inclined.  It may help me get over my jitters.  I want to hear your honest opinions too.  I'm not just saying that.

So, here's my column: http://www.examiner.com/beauty-256-in-johnstown/angela-beechan

Thanks in advance for helping me get my feet wet in this new area for me.

EOTD: Purple sunset

Purple used to be my ultimate favorite color to wear on my eyes.  I had it in my head that it was the only color that really made my green eyes pop, so I wore it in the form of eyeshadow or eyeliner any chance I had.  Lately, things have changed a little and I wear more neutrals (or muted olive/bronze shades) to bring out my eye color.  Makeup aside, purple is still my favorite color, so I'm naturally going to be drawn to it.  Today I decided to do a little more "involved" look (my makeup has been so boring the last week!) since I had some extra time to get ready, and I love how the colors came together.  They kind of remind me of a sunset, except using all purple. ;)

Princess Mimi (Bambi Series) Sesame Grey & Geo Angel Green

Monday, March 28, 2011

I've realized that I haven't touched this blog for a while and all these product reviews I planned to do are stacking up. I think it's too much to put it all in one post so I'll gradually post them. Today's special though will be two circle lens review~~

I'll start off with Geo Angel Green♥

These lens have been reviewed many times before and I had these for a while but I've decided to review them. (I might review all my other lens too if I have time, I have like 13 pairs and I've only reviewed two of them @_@)

Here is a closeup in natural lighting:

Whole face look~~(sorry about messiness, I just took shower ^^")

These lens weren't very comfy the first time but like a lot of lenses, after a little while it feels much more comfortable! The color isn't extremely vibrant nor is it that dark, but for sure it is noticeable and people will most likely notice. Especially if you're Asian most people will be curious of your green eyes =D~but it is indeed pretty. The enlargement is obvious but not overly exaggerated. Overall, I enjoyed wearing these.

RATINGS:

Comfort-8/10 The comfort level is quite comfortable =]
Color- 7.5/10 I like the color because it's not too bright nor too dark but I gave it a 7.5 based on how vibrant it is.
Enlargement-7/10 The enlargement is good but because there are so many lens coming out with larger sizes so a 7/10 for the Angels♥
Overall-7/10 since it's not my most favorite but I like it =D

While I'm at it, here is a picture of the Angel Violets that I LOVED♥

NEXT UP~~

Princess Mimi Sesame Grey (Bambi Series)

This lens is well known to be worn by Tsubasa ♥

I just want to say how much I love these lens! I was a bit afraid at first because the size is 15mm and I was afraid I would look alien like but it is extremely beautiful. The pattern is gorgeous as well as the color! The comfort level was just like a couple of the other lenses where it's a bit uncomfy at first and then my eyes adjust and I eventually can't feel it at all! Seriously, I love these lenses so much and just everything about it! I can't wait to try the Green apple one too!

RATINGS:
Comfort-9/10 It eventually felt really close to nothing so 9/10 =D!
Enlargement-10/10 BIG!!! But Pretty ^_^
Color-10/10 I love the pattern and the color! It's so beautiful *O*!!
Overall- 9/10 the only thing was the comfort level when it first entered my eye, other then that, WOOT!!!

There's my huge camwhore~~^3^~~~

My next few posts will be more reviews♥

Wax On, Wax OFF!

We are taught since our pre teen years that we need to tweez and wax our brows but there is an up and coming alternative to waxing. It is called Threading. It is invented and brought here by Indian women. Some cities have actual threading salons and some just have booths at local malls. They do not use any wax but they just pull thread thru each of your brow hairs and pull them out. It is much better than waxing because it gets all the way down to the root and it is said that it helps us not wrinkle as young where we get threaded. Painful? No. It feels like waxing but it looks nicer after and does not remove any layers of skin like waxing does. So try it out and see what ya think!

Sexy Man Hair!

So for men it is a bit harder to change or get a new hairstyle but here are a few great options and they are my favorites to cut at work:

a Fo Hawk is my number one, most of my younger male clients (ages 2-35) love this one. If you guy has great style, get him a Euro Mullet (David Beckham style).
This is a basic but classic look. Leaving the front a bit longer so he can spike it up.

At my salon, the J. Biebs cut is huge with the pre teens! Of course, I do not tell them this but it is what it is. (And yes, I am aware he cut his locks!)

For business men, I have to admit, I kind of like the slicked back pompador! Big or small. It's a little classy to me!

Springy Hair Trend!

This Spring, spring for some bangs! All the celebrities are doin it this season! Some are not fully committing though and are just doing bang extensions... "it's like a tattoo, you have to fully committ!" Just kidding, but they do take a while to grow out. But my personal opinion is just do it because bangs instantly change your entire face and flatter as well. Bottom line: if you were wanting to change your hair, get or change your fringe! (Fringe = proper name for bangs).
