I am an Aztec

Colour is not my forte. But on a recent trip to Primark/Penneys I snapped up a few 'summer pieces'. The fact that I'm not going away this Summer means I can stay happily in my neutrals. But for a few euro I will most certainly don a bit of colour. This 'aztec' type headband cost a mere 2euro and I love it.

I've been working a few more hours over the past few weeks, which is a godsend. I only have a small amount to go to pay off my course in a month and I'm saving for my SLR. After talking to many people, I have decided to opt for the Canon 1000d. While there is the whole Nikon/Canon debate, I just seem to gravitate towards the Canon. Very excited.

I have a giveaway running on my Youtube channel, which you can access here. GO FORTH! It's to win the Samantha Chapman Real Techniques Eye Definition set after I reached 600 subscribers on both my Youtube and blog. I know I don't say it enough, but it does mean a lot that anyone reads and listens to my rambles, so thank you.

Happy Tuesday!

Month of May Haul

Monday, May 30, 2011

So I'm going to be posting one haul at the end of every month, instead of boring you the whole month with a few items. I will be doing reviews on everything so I won't be saying much about the products until I use them more.
Really the only time I buy items are if they are on sale, so most items I'm posting were on sale.

Hard Candy- Glamoflauge concealer
Maybelline- One by One Uolum Express Mascara
I bought them both at walmart
LA Coupe- Flexible fix hairspray, Frizz- Free Curl Shaping Mousse, Replenish masque intensive repair treatment.
Balea- Waterproof makeup remover, Purifying, Hydrating facial mask's
All of these were on sale.
Rimmel- Vinyl Gloss 180-No Regrets, 110-Keep a secret, Moisture renew 180-Vintage pink, 200-Latino
The Gloss was buy one get one free and the lipsticks were on sale.

So overall it was a very good month for a haul, I can't wait to give you a review for each one. Stay tuned for next month's haul.

Did you enjoy The Muppet movies when you were growing up?

I enjoyed watching The Muppets' movies when I was growing up. The characters are memorable for one. Did you have a favorite? I used to like Gonzo and animal. Of course you gotta like Kermit. One thing I remember liking about The Muppets' movies was that there was more going on than just the movie. Side jokes and things going on in the background made watching it each time, just a little different.

Well guess what folks?  The Muppets have a new movie.  It won't be in theatres until Nov. 23 but I have info about it now.

The cast includes:  Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzy Bear, Gonzo, Animal, Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Walter.

Director:  James Bobin
Producers:  David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman

Here is the synopsis forwarded to me by Disney:

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, “The Muppets” hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011.

I always love to see what other celebs will pop up in the movie.  It's always a great surprise, and in my opinion another thing the makes The Muppets' movies so fun.

Magnets.com a useful and affordable way to advertise

If you have a business of any kind be it, blog, crafts, your own store, a service you provide, you want to advertise it.  I think most of us try to carry business cards around with us.  Sometimes I wonder though what really happens to the business card after the needed info is placed in an address book or saved as a bookmark on someones computer.  I thought I'd like to have some cute magnets made up but I thought I couldn't afford to do that.

Magnets.com offers lots of custom magnets that can be made into many different shapes, logos, or colors.  From your basic basic magnet to clips, calendars, well there's a lot of clever ideas to choose from.

I don't know about you but I love those magnetic plastic clips I get on occasion as a promotion item.  I have one on my front door to hang reminder notes or clip a paper that needs to go with me next time I leave the house.  I have really clever magnets with cooking conversions that I've had for years.  I got them for free from a company I ordered something from.  I found them so useful, I keep them around.  Magnets are also an affordable item to offer as a handout when doing PR or public appearances.

Magnets.com sent me a sample pack of some magnets they have done.  I was truly impressed with the quality of the magnets and the creativity behind them.  I took a picture of the ones I received:

Some of them were several pieces so I took them apart just to show you how they were designed.

The one was made like a puzzle.  My toddler is facinated with magnets at this point in life so I'm sure this will be one he can't wait to get his hands on.

Sometimes when I receive items to review I don't always know the price upfront.  I brace myself because if it's expensive I'm gonna say that.  So I looked over the site and was pleasantly surprised to see the prices on the magnets.  Even the ones that were more dynamic.  For example:  A handy custom kitchen conversion magnet is only 13 cents to 24 cents a piece.  The price varies depending on how many you order.  Of course the more you order, the bigger your savings.  But I thought 13 cents is very reasonable.  You figure if you order 100 of those your only looking at $13.00 plus shipping.  Then you have 100 handy magnets to handout when needed.  Custom business card magnets are only 8 cents to 24 cents a piece.  Custom design is free of charge too!

It's not just small magnets though.  If you were thinking more along the lines of outdoor magnets like car magnets, baseballs or football helmets.  Or they even make magnetic memo boards.

You can find Magnets.com on twitter as @CustomMagnets

and like Magnets.com on Facebook too.

Use coupon code NoShip2010 to get free shipping on your first order under 10001 pieces.   Plus use Promo code 100FREE (expires June 15) to get 100 free custom business cards with any order.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com created by WebBizIdeas.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commissions 16 CFR, Part 255 Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising. Challenging myself with bright red lips!

I placed a small order at Darling Girl Cosmetics last night, yay!  I got a blogger sample pack and a couple petit sizes of things, so I'm really excited to receive them and finally try out an indie brand.  She's having a buy 2 get 1 free sale right now so I figured now was as good of time as any.

Anyway, I've been having so much fun experimenting with lip combinations lately!  This one is very... WOW for me.  I can do deep wine/berry shades and nudes, but I always shy away from bright reds.  So to achieve the following red lips I combined two products that I've actually never worn out before- Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Wine With Everything and Revlon ColorBurst lip gloss in Bordeaux.

Left: Wine With Everything, Right: Bordeaux

I had been trying to come up with a good gloss I could pair over Wine With Everything for the longest time!  It's a little too shiny and bright for me as is, but Bordeaux deepens it and adds a subtle sparkle.  On that note, I love the quality of each of these individual products.  The Super Lustrous lipsticks feel smooth and are richly pigmented; the ColorBurst lipglosses are just the same, if not better in my opinion (I tend to like glosses better than lipstick for some reason?).  No stickiness, yay!  Moving on!

I paired this with a taupe/purple eye and contoured cheeks.  I am loving this lip combination and it's making me want to try more red lipsticks/glosses!  I love my deep berry shades, but red is a nice way to change it up.

Speaking of changing it up, Sophie over at Fresh Air & Fashion is doing a great challenge over the next few weeks- basically, you create 15 new makeup and hair ideas to try.  I think it's an awesome way to get out of a beauty rut, and I'm doing a very loose version of it (I have a bunch of posts lined up to do over the next few weeks otherwise I'd follow it more closely!)- you guys can check it out here if you're interested.  I just thought I'd give the friendly shout out, especially since it's always good to try new things. :)

Are there any new looks or styles you've tried recently?

free 6 in 1 screwdriver with free shipping

I'm really liking this 1saleaday site. If you recall I got my wireless headset for free with free shipping from them about a week ago. Now they're offering a 6 in 1 screwdriver for free with free shipping. They only ask that you leave a testimonial on their facebook page BEFORE you order the free item.

I actually did receive the headset I ordered and I received it pretty fast too.  So this site is legit.
