50% off goodies - Harmon shopping spree!

Saturday, March 5, 2011

I was so excited to go to Harmon, it felt like I hadn't been in forever and I wanted to check out some new products! Well, a lot of what I was looking for wasn't in yet (or already sold out) but I did manage to score some good deals! Everything in the photo above (plus some things not shown) cost only $30.61 before tax!

I came armed with plenty of coupons - their $5 off $15 are the best, especially since you can use multiples! If you spend $30, you can get $10 off; if you spend $45, you can get $15 off, and so on! My total was a few bucks shy of $45, so I grabbed some candy and gum by the register to make it up to $45 so I could use a 3rd coupon. Cadbury eggs are delicious, but I can only manage one or two a season because they're so over-the-top sweet!

Here's a breakdown of everything I got - the final price in bold is the price after the $5 coupons were taken off (the receipt shows the discount spread over everything, which ends up to be around 33% off per item).

Physicians Formula Happy Booster bronzer - $11.19 - $1 on-product coupon - $6.86
Alpha Hydrox glycolic cream - $9.99 (no coupons) - $6.72
Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara - $6.79 - $1 off coupon from Sunday paper - $3.93
Maybelline Express Finish nail polish - $2.99 - $1 off coupon (from display in-store) - $1.33
Organix Coconut Milk Treatment - $6.99 - on clearance for $2.42 - $1.61
Organix Vanilla Silk styling cream - $6.99 - on clearance for $2.42 - $1.61
Lip Smacker Naturals - $1.99 - on sale for $0.99 - $0.66 (bought 2)

Fillers:
Cadbury eggs $0.89 - $0.59 (bought 2)
Dentyne gum $1.19 - $0.80 (bought 2)

Not shown:
Always Pantyliners (2 boxes) - $3.19 per box - $1 off 2 coupon from P&G paper insert - $1.79 a box
Conair comb - $1.29 - (no coupons) - $0.87

Total before discounts: $61.55
Total after discounts $30.61!

The best deals I think are the Organix products, as well as the Lip Smackers. I LOVE the Lip Smackers naturals!! They're on sale for $1 off (as well as ALL Bonne Bell products!) for the month of March, so I might have to go back and get some more while I can get them for so cheap.

They also have some adorable new products out, including the wet n wild lip/eye pallets and pastel nail polishes, and Maybelline eyeshadow and more in spring-y colors (the nail polish I got was from the new line). Some older wet n wild products were 10% off, and Maybelline eyeshadow singles/duos were clearanced to $2.70 or less - plus there was a stack of $1 off coupons on their displays!

Harmon also has $1 off Neutrogena Naturals with in-flier coupon (which is stackable with the $1 off coupon from a recent Sunday paper), but they hadn't gotten all the products in stock yet. I'll be returning before the end of the month to check if they do! There are many other coupons in the flier this month that have partner manufacturer's coupons, including Almay and Revlon, which could net you some good deals if you're in need of the products!

$30 worth of stuff at Harmon for $14.81!

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

I went to Harmon's today on a whim (like always!) and saved 50% with some chance sales and a couple coupons!

The Freeman's Organic stuff was all on price cut from $6.99 to $4.98! I love their moisturizer and face mask, so I picked up the face wash and scrub to try. Harmon is one of the few stores that carries this brand, so I'm glad to see it on sale.

Kushyfoot is a brand I've heard a lot about recently but never saw in stores before. It looks like they just brought a stock in, and some of it was on clearance! The socks were marked down to $1.78, and although I'm not sure what the original price was, their other socks were $4 to $7.

I had a $5 off $10 Wet n Wild products from All You magazine, so I picked up my favorite powder and some awesome new sparkly nail polish ($1.78 each). They also have these limited edition eyeshadow pallets. I certainly don't need any more eyeshadow, but I'm a sucker for limited edition things, and I needed something else to push my total over $10 (and didn't need another powder, I have several stockpiled).

It turns out that Harmon has a weird coupon policy. They've always been different, I've noticed, because they can't take manufacturer's coupons off the total price, and rather price adjust an item's price down. So when I gave them the $5 off coupon, they couldn't take it off the total of the W'n'W products, but rather took it off one item (if I had a $5+ item, it would have taken the whole $5 off) . Both the powder and eyeshadow were $4.49, but they couldn't take that extra $0.51 off. So I lost $0.51, but I'm not gonna complain about it.

I also used a $5 off $15 Harmon coupon. The total of everything if I had paid full price would have been around $30, but after the coupons and sales, my total was only $14.81 ($15.62 after tax).

Can't wait to try out all my new stuff! :)

Harmon shopping!

Thursday, September 23, 2010

I went to Harmon yesterday on a whim and came out with some great deals! Harmon is a discount drugstore owned by the Bed Bath & Beyond company, which so far only has stores in the CT, NY and NJ area. It's been around here forever and it's one of my favorite places to shop - they are as cheap as mass retailers but have lots of stuff other places don't have!

And as a bonus, they take Bed Bath & Beyond coupons! BB&B sends out coupons by the billions, and my grandma collects them and gives me stacks all the time. They regularly distribute 20% off one item, and $5 off a $15 purchase coupons. They have expiration dates, but no store around here cares if they're expired so you can save them forever. You can use one 20% off per item you buy, and you can stack with manufacturer's coupons!

So, on to my haul!

My biggest surprise was to find that the Secret Soothing Effects deodorant (my favorite kind), regularly priced at $6.99 was on sale for $2.99!! I've never seen it priced so low anywhere, so two of those went in my cart.

Goodstuff Organics, a new sub-brand of Freeman products, had an in-flier coupon for $1.50 any item. I just started using their moisturizer and love it, and found there's a new revitalizing face mask! So I had to try it.

They had the new Lipsmacker naturals lip balm, which Target carries for cheaper, but they don't sell the vanilla flavor. I also had a printable $1 off coupon from their website, so I grabbed one of those.

I also found a bottle of pure glycerin, which is supposedly a great moisturizer. I thought I'd try it to do some DIY skincare or just apply it directly - I read somewhere that it does wonderful things to dry lips.

So I had a $1 off Lipsmacker coupon, the $1.50 flier coupon, and a $5 off $15 coupon (which is better than 20% off if you're spending more than $15 or less than $30). The $5 off coupon evenly distributed across the items on the receipt, except the Goodstuff because I used the $1.50 off Harmon coupon (only one store coupon per item).

So my receipt looked like this:

Secret Deo $6.99 - $4.00 - $1.43 = $1.56
Secret Deo $6.99 - $4.00 - $1.43 = $1.56
Goodstuff mask $6.99 - $1.50 = $5.49
Glycerin $3.49 - $1.67 = $1.82
Lipsmacker $1.99 - $1.00 - $0.47 = $0.52!

The total before sales and coupons would be $26.45, but I spent only $10.95!

The Secret Deo price cut remains active until September 30th, so get it while you can!
